Erstwilder and UNHCR: Supporting a Nation in Need
If you have caught even a moment of the news over the past few weeks, you will be well aware that there is a humanitarian crisis unfolding in Afghanistan. A wave of political upheaval and violence has seen mass displacement, with some 550,000 vulnerable people forced from their homes this year alone. The crisis has been especially impactful on women and children, who make up 80 per cent of the people who have been forced to flee since the beginning of May.
The more we learn about this tragedy, the more our hearts break, but the good news is, there is something we can do to help.
From midday Friday 27th August to midday Sunday 29th August (AEST), Erstwilder will be donating 50% of ALL sales on ERSTWILDER.COM to the UN Refugee Agency Australia for UNHCR, an organisation raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR's global emergency response to humanitarian crises.
UNHCR currently has somewhere in the ballpark of 200 staff stationed in Afghanistan and 13 national NGO partners on the ground providing critical assistance. Together with partners, they have provided food, shelter, cash, hygiene and sanitary kits, and other life-saving aid to more than 230,000 people this year.

Erstwildians know that, in addition to spreading joy through our quirky, playful, vintage-inspired designs, we also seek out opportunities to use our brand, our designs and the backing of our community to do some real good in the world. This good can come in the form of charitable donations, contributions to causes close to our hearts, or simply through raising awareness. To date, and with your help, we have donated over $130,000 to organisations that, for lack of a better description, do good.
We call this our Erstwilder Cares program, and you can learn more about it here.
